Pakistan-China ties further strengthening under Xi Jinping, Imran Khan’s leadership: Chinese envoy

GWADAR, July 6 – Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong said on Monday afternoon said relationship between Pakistan and China were further strengthening day-by-day under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The envoy said that CPEC will change the economic fate of the region as billion dollars were being spent under this mega project.

Speaking to a gathering in Gwadar which was also addressed by Prime Minister Imran Khan, he said the projects under CPEC hinted at prosperity for the region.

He said China will work with Pakistan to accelerate project construction to meet the time-lines, continuously enhance Gwadar’s port operation, infrastructure, industry, and social development to promote the high-quality development of CPEC. “The Gwadar port is right on its track to the regional business and trade hub,” he remarked.

Addressing the event, Balochistan Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal said that projects under CPEC were a milestone for the development of the Province and to change its destiny.

He said that work on western route was underway and huge amount was being spent on development projects in Balochistan including establishment of technical colleges and university for the first time in Gwadar.

He said the development projects when completed would change the fate of people. Under the schemes, basic facilities like water and electricity would be provided to the people of Balochistan, particularly of Gwadar. Moreover, schools, colleges, hospitals and roads would be built, besides Internet connectivity would also be enhanced in the province, he added.

The chief minister said the Gwadar University was being established here, while the construction of a girls’ college was also underway to empower the women.

Under the master plan of Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), he said, locals would not be forced to sell their property if they were not willing.

Furthermore, he said, health cards were being given to the people of Balochistan to avail treatment facility of up to Rs one million per year for each family.

Jam Kamal said, new schemes had been announced in the current fiscal year’s budget of the province. An amount of Rs 4.5 billion had been allocated for the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), he added.
