Pakistan, China share deep cultural bonding, Ambassador Zaidong while addressing an event hosted by Chinese embassy.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong stated on Tuesday that the bond between China and Pakistan extends beyond diplomatic ties to a deep cultural appreciation, where both nations embrace and cherish each other’s festivals and traditions.
Speaking at an event hosted by the Chinese Embassy to mark the International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations, Ambassador Jiang expressed admiration for Pakistan’s traditional festivals, particularly Eid, highlighting shared cultural appreciation.
He noted that last year, China, along with 82 UN member states, introduced the Global Civilisation Initiative (GCI), which was later adopted by the UN General Assembly, signaling a growing recognition of diverse civilizations and collective goodwill among nations.
Ambassador Jiang emphasized that promoting civilizational dialogue and mutual understanding is a shared global aspiration, one supported by Pakistan and other UN members, making the first International Day for Dialogue a significant milestone.
He affirmed that China is actively advancing the goals of the GCI and believes that its partnership with Pakistan provides a strong foundation for successfully implementing the initiative and advancing global civilizational progress.
China remains committed to civilizational exchange and will continue to contribute to the evolution of global civilizations, he said, citing a recent Eid greeting video shared by the Chinese embassy with Pakistani friends as a reflection of these efforts.
He drew parallels between Eid and the Chinese Spring Festival, noting that both celebrations signify cultural warmth and unity, further strengthening bilateral people-to-people connections.
Highlighting cultural synergy, he mentioned the Gandhara Arts Exhibition as a prominent example of Sino-Pakistani civilizational exchange, showcasing a unique blend of Pakistani, Roman, Greek, and Buddhist influences.
Ambassador Jiang also marked this year as the 80th anniversary of the World Anti-Fascist War’s victory and the founding of the United Nations, acknowledging the UN’s transformative role in shaping global systems and order.
He stressed that all countries, regardless of their size or power, should be treated equally, a principle some have unfortunately disregarded in global affairs.
He argued that adherence to a UN-centered international system, along with the rule of law and the UN Charter, could prevent conflicts like trade or tariff wars from arising globally.
Finally, Jiang called on China and Pakistan, as key players in the Global South and champions of multilateralism, to jointly uphold true multilateral values and promote a fairer and more inclusive globalization.
