Pakistan, China reaffirm commitment to advance CPEC 2.0 with a focus on industrialization, SEZs and more.
Pakistan and China have reiterated their commitment to advancing the high-quality development of CPEC 2.0, focusing on industrialization, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), clean energy, agriculture, and livelihood projects.
The 5th meeting of the CPEC Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination (JWG-ICC) took place in Beijing, co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and China’s Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, as stated in a press release from Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
The meeting underscored the crucial role of CPEC in enhancing regional connectivity, fostering win-win cooperation, and promoting shared prosperity, including through collaborations with other nations.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved since the fourth JWG-ICC meeting held in Islamabad on January 21, 2024.
Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch described CPEC as the foundation of China-Pakistan economic collaboration and a symbol of their enduring friendship.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong emphasized the alignment of the five new CPEC 2.0 corridors—growth, livelihood, innovation, open, and green—with Pakistan’s national development framework, centered on the 5 E’s: Exports, E-Pakistan, Energy, Environment, and Equity.
Both nations reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen cooperation in media, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties, accelerating the development of a China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
