On October 12, 2023, the Pakistan-China Institute, in partnership with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, organized an awards event at the PTV News Headquarters in Islamabad to honor the winners of the ‘Nationwide Best BRI Projects Photography Competition.’
Distinguished guests, including Mustafa Hyder Sayed, Executive Director of the Pakistan China Institute, Professor Li Xiguang, former Dean of Tsinghua International Center for Communication Studies, and Tahir Hussain, Director-General of Radio Pakistan, attended the ceremony.
Mustafa Hyder Sayed highlighted the ceremony’s importance as a lead-up to the upcoming Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, emphasizing the need to focus on the softer aspects of CPEC projects, such as people-to-people connectivity and cultural exchanges. He hoped that the competition would instill a sense of ownership in Pakistani youth and promote the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China.
Professor Li Xiguang, a devoted admirer of Pakistan, praised the competition’s innovative concept and its celebration of Pakistan’s rich culture and scenic beauty. Tahir Hussain acknowledged China’s pivotal role in Pakistan’s economic growth through CPEC and appreciated China’s commitment to the project.
During the ceremony, the first, second, and third-place winners of the competition received cash prizes as recognition for their outstanding photography. The event was broadcast live on Pakistan Television and brought together individuals from various backgrounds, highlighting the artistic and cultural connections that define the Pakistan-China relationship.
