Pakistan, China forge partnership to develop essential oil industry in special agricultural park to produce top quality essential oils.
In an effort to strengthen the essential oil industry, Pakistan Carium Healthcare Innovation Co., Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Anhui Annongda Agricultural Science and Technology Co., Ltd earlier this month. This collaboration marks the beginning of a joint initiative to create a China-Pakistan Special Agricultural Industrial Park. The focus of this partnership is on the research, development, and extraction of essential oils, as well as the cultivation of plants and herbs known for their medicinal and essential oil-rich properties.
The MoU highlights the commitment of both parties to utilize Pakistan’s natural resources while promoting innovative methods that will enhance the country’s position in the global essential oil market. The goal is to produce top-quality, pure essential oils to meet growing demand in sectors like pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and wellness. As part of the project, they will grow crops such as stevia, Japanese mint, and sweet potatoes, with the initial harvest from the park dedicated to producing essential oils for the pharmaceutical industry.
Essential oils, valued for their healing properties, have seen a rise in demand due to their wide range of applications. From aromatherapy and skincare to natural health solutions, these oils have become an important part of modern wellness practices. Pakistan’s favorable climate and soil conditions make it an ideal location for cultivating plants that are abundant in essential oils.
Through the partnership, Anhui Annongda will share advanced cultivation techniques with Pakistani farmers, boosting both crop yields and the sustainable production of high-quality essential oils.
Additionally, the two companies plan to set up a state-of-the-art research lab focused on advanced cell and tissue culture methods. This facility will act as a center for developing new plant varieties, fruits, and vegetables through cell and tissue culture, enhancing the variety and quality of essential oil-producing plants and medicinal herbs.
