Pakistan, Belarus agree to enhance Air Force-to-Air Force cooperation across multiple domains.
This cooperation will include launching high-level exchange programs designed to promote professional growth between the two air forces.
The agreement was finalized during a meeting in Islamabad between Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Major General Andrei Yulianovich Lukyanovich, Commander of Belarus’s Air Force and Air Defence.
Air Chief Marshal Zaheer assured that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is dedicated to supporting Belarus in training pilots and maintenance crews, covering basic to tactical levels, to help build their air force’s capacity. He reaffirmed his commitment to deepen the existing ties by boosting cooperation in training, technology development, and operational capabilities.
The meeting covered a broad range of mutual interests concerning air power and military cooperation.
Both sides also reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, agreeing to maintain frequent and close interactions between their air forces.
Major General Andrei Yulianovich Lukyanovich, leading a senior defense delegation, visited the Air Headquarters in Islamabad.
Upon his arrival, a well-prepared PAF contingent presented a Guard of Honour to welcome him.
The Belarusian commander expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the strong friendship shared between Pakistan and Belarus.
He showed keen interest in learning from Pakistan Air Force’s extensive operational experience, especially in wartime scenarios. He praised PAF’s professionalism and effectiveness in complex operations and expressed eagerness to adopt PAF’s combat-tested strategies and training methods.
Major General Lukyanovich expressed a strong desire for formal, structured training programs by PAF for Belarusian air personnel, signaling a new phase in capacity-building and operational excellence cooperation.
He invited Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu to attend upcoming major defense events in Belarus to further enhance bilateral relations by exploring new collaboration opportunities. Both sides agreed to plan the visit and deepen their strategic dialogue for future defense cooperation.
This visit underscores the commitment of both Pakistan and Belarus to strengthen their military partnership through ongoing dialogue and joint efforts.
