Pakistan, Azerbaijan vow to expand strategic ties as a high-level meeting was held in Lachin.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan have reiterated their commitment to expanding their strategic relationship by investing in areas of mutual benefit.
This mutual understanding emerged during a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the city of Lachin.
In their discussions, both leaders assessed the entire range of bilateral ties and expressed satisfaction over the growing cooperation in politics, economy, defense, and culture.
Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized the unwavering support both nations have shown for one another and expressed confidence that this solidarity would continue.
He thanked Azerbaijan for its firm backing during Pakistan’s recent tensions with India, appreciating the expressions of support from both the Azerbaijani leadership and public.
He noted that Azerbaijan’s people had celebrated Pakistan’s victory in what he called the “Maarka-e-Haq” against India.
Azerbaijan also agreed to enhance investment-related collaboration by exchanging delegations. Talks at the delegation level are expected to be organized soon.
The meeting occurred ahead of a trilateral summit involving Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye, scheduled to coincide with Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, adding symbolic significance to the occasion. Prime Minister Sharif extended warm congratulations to President Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people on their national day.
As Pakistan, Azerbaijan vow to expand strategic ties through investment, both leaders also highlighted the importance of joint efforts to enhance regional peace, collective development, and adherence to principled stances on global matters.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the two countries’ commitment to further strengthening their partnership and advancing shared goals at both bilateral and regional levels.
