Pakistan and China Enhance High-Level Dialogue and Cooperation for Mutual Benefit

Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar and Chinese President Xi Jinping recently convened at the Great Hall of the People during the Third Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the high-level dialogue and exchanges between their nations. This meeting showcased the depth of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and its continued significance in the evolving international landscape.

A Shared Vision for Mutual Benefit

During their meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed his congratulations to President Xi Jinping for the successful organization of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum. He also commended President Xi for his comprehensive eight-point agenda, which outlines the future direction and scope of the Belt and Road Initiative. This agenda signifies a commitment to expanding the initiative’s impact and relevance on a global scale.

Reaffirming an Unbreakable Bond

Prime Minister Kakar emphasized the unwavering nature of Pakistan and China’s relationship. He described both countries as reliable partners and steadfast friends, underlining the mutual trust and deep camaraderie that characterizes their partnership.

Supporting Each Other on Core Issues

Reaffirming Pakistan’s support for China on its core issues, the Prime Minister stressed that the Pakistan-China relationship plays a pivotal role in promoting peace and stability in the region. This support underscores the countries’ shared commitment to advancing harmony within their neighborhood.

China’s Special Regard for Pakistan

President Xi Jinping reciprocated the sentiment by referring to Pakistan as an “iron-brother, trusted friend, and partner in peace and development.” He expressed China’s unique regard for Pakistan within its foreign policy and reiterated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and development.

A Shared Vision for Regional Connectivity and Economic Development

The leaders engaged in discussions about bilateral cooperation with a strong focus on enhanced regional connectivity and economic development. This shared vision demonstrates the dedication of both countries to collaborate in the pursuit of regional prosperity and connectivity, ultimately leading to improved socioeconomic conditions for their citizens.

CPEC: A Corridor of Growth and Innovation

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), an integral component of the Belt and Road Initiative, remained a key topic of discussion. Both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining a consistent pace of development for CPEC. Their shared goal is to transform CPEC into a corridor of growth, livelihood, innovation, openness, and sustainable development, aligning with Pakistan’s vision for comprehensive and inclusive socioeconomic progress.

During their meeting, Prime Minister Kakar and President Xi Jinping acknowledged the similarity of their views on major global developments. They agreed to further intensify strategic communication at all levels and enhance bilateral cooperation in multilateral forums.
