Pak Navy set for multinational exercise AMAN-25 scheduled from February 7 to 11, 2024.
The Pakistan Navy has completed all preparations for the 9th edition of the multinational Maritime Exercise AMAN-25, set to take place from February 7 to 11, with participation from over 60 countries.
Commander Pakistan Fleet Rear Admiral Abdul Munib provided a media briefing on Exercise AMAN and the inaugural AMAN Dialogue, both scheduled to be held in Karachi during the same period.
During his address, Rear Admiral Munib highlighted that the global focus is shifting from geo-politics to geo-economics, making the security of international maritime trade routes and energy supply lines more critical than ever.
He pointed out that the Indian Ocean Region faces various security threats, both traditional and emerging, necessitating a reassessment of maritime security policies and strategies.
The Commander recalled that the Pakistan Navy launched the biennial Multinational Exercise AMAN in 2007 under the slogan “Together for Peace.” The goal of this initiative is to unite maritime nations in adopting safe and sustainable practices, sharing expertise, and addressing maritime security threats collectively.
According to Rear Admiral Munib, delegations from over 60 countries will take part in AMAN-25, bringing ships, aircraft, special operations forces, EOD marine teams, and observers.
The exercise will be conducted in two phases: Harbour Phase (Feb 7–9) and Sea Phase (Feb 10–11). The Harbour Phase will include seminars, operational discussions, professional demonstrations, international meet-ups, and sports events, while the Sea Phase will feature tactical drills, maritime security operations, anti-piracy and counterterrorism exercises, search-and-rescue missions, and live-fire drills.
A key moment of the Sea Phase will be the International Fleet Review, observed by dignitaries from both Pakistan and participating nations.
Rear Admiral Munib emphasized that the growing global participation in AMAN exercises reflects international trust in the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to collaborative maritime security. This has also led to the introduction of the first-ever AMAN Dialogue, which will run alongside Exercise AMAN 2025.
The AMAN Dialogue will bring together naval chiefs, coast guard officials, and defense forces to discuss shared regional and global maritime challenges. It will serve as a platform for developing innovative solutions to evolving security threats at sea, combining strategic discussions with real-time maritime experiences.
Rear Admiral Munib concluded that Exercise AMAN 2025 will play a crucial role in improving maritime security, reinforcing Pakistan’s status as a key maritime force, and contributing to regional and global peace while protecting its Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs) and economic interests.
