Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, recently visited the China-Pakistan Economic and Cultural Exchange Incubation Center in Chengdu, China. This center serves as a crucial platform for fostering economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between China and Pakistan. It is a collaborative effort between the Consulate General of Pakistan in Chengdu and the Pakistan-Sichuan Chamber of Commerce.
During his visit, Ambassador Hashmi took a keen interest in the sale and market prospects of various Pakistani goods showcased in the center, such as carpets, clothes, and handicrafts. Li Hongwu, Director of the Incubation Center and Chairman of the Pakistan-Sichuan Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the excellent quality and distinctive characteristics of Pakistani products, noting their popularity among local residents.
The economic ties between the two countries were underscored by significant trading activities in agricultural and sideline products. Li Hongwu mentioned the growing interest from Chinese enterprises in sectors like light industry and construction materials, expressing a desire to establish partnerships with Pakistani counterparts.
Ambassador Hashmi expressed particular interest in initiatives related to the establishment of industrial parks, cultural tourism, and the potential Lahore-Chengdu direct flight. These projects, he believes, hold great potential for enhancing bilateral cooperation and connectivity.
Discussions between the parties also revolved around potential cooperation in establishing an e-commerce platform and organizing exhibitions and sales events. Such initiatives are seen as effective means to further promote trade and cultural exchanges between Pakistan and China.
