Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong has said that Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) serves as an important bridge for cooperation between China and the Islamic world.
In his tweet the Chinese Ambassador congratulated Pakistan on successfully hosting the 17th Extraordinary Session of Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of OIC. He said his country is willing to work closely to support Afghanistan to achieve a better future.
Previously, the Ambassador had elucidated Beijing’s stance on Afghanistan issue when he met the Afghan Taliban delegation and attended the meeting of foreign ministers of neighboring states.
He highlighted at various platforms that negotiation with the Taliban should be held to deal with the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
An exclusive session of OIC to discuss the simmering humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan was held in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad on Sunday.
The 17th “extraordinary” meeting, which was convened at the initiative of the current OIC summit chair, Saudi Arabia, was attended by the foreign ministers of member states and observers. The Chinese ambassador was also present at the event.
Besides foreign ministers and observers, the special invitees also included participants from the United Nations, international financial institutions, and some non-member states, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the EU.
