The New Gwadar International Airport is anticipated to start operations on August 14, with preparations almost finalized.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to oversee the soft launch of this crucial project.
A special Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Karachi is set to be the first to land at the New Gwadar International Airport, marking a historic event for the region.
Built at an estimated cost of Rs54.98 billion, the airport includes runways that meet international standards and can accommodate large aircraft like the Airbus A380. Consequently, The Gwadar International Airport is a pivotal project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and symbolizes a significant milestone in the partnership between China and Pakistan. Sources indicate that the Civil Aviation Authority constructed the airport in collaboration with Chinese experts.
Furthermore, only four per cent of the operational section remains unfinished. Other development projects related to the airport are expected to be completed by December 2025.
Additionally, the New Gwadar International Airport is poised to enhance the region’s connectivity and economic growth, serving as a critical infrastructure project for Pakistan’s expanding aviation sector.
