Minister Shaza engages with Huawei for advancing Pak’s cloud infrastructure and enhance digital economy.
Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, met with Barry Xu, Vice President of ME&CA Cloud at Huawei, to discuss the enhancement of Pakistan’s digital infrastructure under the Cloud First Policy on Wednesday afternoon.
The meeting centered on establishing a dedicated Pakistan Cloud Region to improve public sector efficiency and drive digital transformation. The Minister also proposed developing the country’s first GPU-based AI Cloud to facilitate large-scale AI models and deep learning applications.
During the discussion, Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to adopting advanced technologies that support its vision for a strong digital economy. She highlighted the importance of collaborating with global tech leaders like Huawei to enhance the nation’s digital ecosystem, empower startups, and drive economic growth.
Huawei’s Barry Xu reaffirmed the company’s support for Pakistan’s IT and AI sectors, acknowledging the country’s potential as a regional technology hub. Both parties explored opportunities to help Pakistani startups utilize Huawei’s cutting-edge resources.
They agreed to refine strategies and strengthen collaboration at the upcoming Digital Foreign Direct Investment Forum in Islamabad, as per an official statement.
