Federal Minister and Chinese Envoy visit Pir Mehar Ali Shah Agriculture University to enhance agricultural cooperation prospects between two countries.
Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, along with the Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, visited Pir Mehar Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University on Wednesday to review key facilities at the institution.
During the visit, they received a briefing on the progress of the China-Pakistan Research and Development Center for Modern Agriculture and Water Efficient Technologies.
The primary goal of the visit was to enhance agricultural collaboration between Pakistan and China.
The minister and ambassador toured various facilities, including exhibition halls, training centers, laboratories, and a sprinkler irrigation demonstration site.
A bilateral meeting between Rana Tanveer Hussain and the Chinese ambassador focused on advancing ongoing agricultural partnerships.
Discussions included the progress of training 1,000 agricultural professionals and expanding contract farming initiatives led by Chinese firms in Pakistan.
The minister expressed confidence that the visit would lead to further strengthening of agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
He noted that such initiatives would enhance both the quantity and quality of agricultural production in Pakistan.
The minister commended the China-Pakistan partnership for its role in modernizing Pakistan’s agricultural sector and expressed optimism about future collaborations.
