Mayor Murtaza Wahab embarks on a three day official visit to China aiming to enhance relations between Karachi and Shanghai.
Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has embarked on a three-day official visit to China following a special invitation extended by Gong Zheng, the Mayor of Shanghai.
The visit aims to strengthen the ties between Karachi and Shanghai and expand cooperation, especially in the realm of urban development. It is seen as a major step toward progress for Karachi.
The Mayor is accompanied by key officials including KMC Municipal Commissioner S.M. Afzal Zaidi, Financial Advisor Gulzar Ali Abro, and Senior Director for Sports and Culture Mehdi Maloof. During their stay, the delegation will observe a variety of urban development initiatives in Shanghai.
Prior to his departure, Barrister Wahab held a meeting with Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Bilawal House, where he briefed him on the invitation from the Shanghai Mayor and the objectives of the visit.
While in Shanghai, Mayor Wahab is expected to engage with senior Chinese authorities to explore collaboration opportunities in infrastructure, urban planning, and transport. These discussions aim to foster institutional partnerships between the two cities.
Furthermore this visit is anticipated to open a new chapter in Karachi’s development journey. Drawing inspiration from Shanghai’s modern urban models, Karachi hopes to make substantial progress. The initiative, led by Mayor Wahab, is intended to pave the way for enduring and productive ties between the two metropolises.
