Denmark’s Maersk Line has announced a substantial $2 billion investment in Pakistan’s maritime sector.
The announcement came during a meeting in Islamabad between Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh, and senior officials from Maersk Line. The minister called the investment a transformative development for Pakistan’s shipping and logistics industries, stressing its potential for long-term economic benefits.
Maersk officials voiced their trust in the Pakistani government and appreciation for the Ministry of Maritime Affairs’ support in facilitating this significant investment.
Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh assured Maersk of the Ministry’s full cooperation, committing to streamline their operations and resolve any obstacles to ensure a smooth investment process.
He also emphasized that this collaboration has the potential to attract further foreign investments, boost Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure, and support port development, job creation, and economic expansion, strengthening Pakistan’s global shipping role.
