Over 150 participants from China and the United States, including members of the Kuliang Friends group, gathered in Beijing on Friday for a forum focused on China-U.S. relations.
The 2024 Kuliang Forum centered on fostering steady and sustained China-U.S. exchanges and identifying constructive approaches to develop bilateral relations.
Participants emphasized carrying forward the Kuliang spirit to enhance people-to-people ties. The event featured the launch of the Kuliang Forum’s official website, the announcement of an initiative for friendly youth exchanges, and the start of a collection of stories celebrating China-U.S. friendship and cooperation.
Themed “Bridging Cultural Differences, Inheriting Friendship and Trust,” the forum was co-hosted by People’s Daily Digital Communication and Global Times.
Kuliang, a historic hillside resort near Fuzhou in Fujian Province, has been a symbol of cross-cultural bonds since the 1880s, when foreign expatriates built summer villas there, fostering enduring connections with local residents.
In the United States, descendants of American families who once lived in Kuliang established the “Kuliang Friends” group to continue nurturing the legacy of friendship between Chinese and American communities.
