Mr. Anwar Zeb Khan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Zakat & Ushr, highlighted that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will provide development opportunities to the backward areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province. With the completion of CPEC projects, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa areas especially the tribal areas within the province will be benefited. “Rashakai Special Economic Zone and Mohmand Marble City will provide jobs to millions of people. China is also investing extensively in numerous infrastructure projects across Pakistan. ”

Minister Anwar made the above remarks on a webinar titled “70th Anniversary of Pakistan China Stronger than Steel Friendship” held by China Study Center (CSC), University of Peshawar (UoP) last week.

Pakistan and China are engaged in an everlasting friendship that plays a key role in regional peace and development. He further mentioned that Pakistan is happy and proud to see that China has become a global and economic power. The two countries are working closely with several other “Belt and Road” countries. Pakistani people and government treat China as a great friend. Over time, this friendship will be stronger and stronger.

H.E. Zhang Heqing, Cultural Counselor, China Embassy in Pakistan, pointed out on the occasion that the past 70 years has proved that the China-Pakistan relationship and cooperation are not only in the fundamental interests of the two countries, but also conducive to regional and global peace, stability and development. “Under the guidance of the leaders of both countries, the cooperation between China and Pakistan has made fruitful achievements in recent years. As the pilot project of BRI, CPEC has become an important platform for the all-round cooperation between the two countries. CPEC has covered almost every aspect of Pakistan’s development. Meanwhile, the two countries have continuously deepened and expanded cooperation in the fields of military, security, culture, tourism, youth, etc, which further enhanced the foundation of bilateral relations.” H.E. Zhang Heqing stated.

Emphasizing the significance of people-to-people ties in Pak-China relationship, Ms. Farhat Asif, President of IPDS, encouraged Pakistani young students to think deeper about how China could be able to carry out reform, reduce poverty and vigorously develop the economy. She also praised the key role played by the Communist Party of China in the country’s development.

Prof. Dr. Zhang Jiadong, Director of CSAS Fudan University, Khalid Rahman, Chairman IPS, Professor Dr. Ljaz Butt, Principal of Government College Township, Lahore also attended the webinar and made their remarks.
