GWADAR, March 2 – In a major development, the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of Gwadar University’s buildings is held in Gwadar on 1st March realising the dream of local people to have their own university on their own land.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif accompanied by high-ups will perform the groundbreaking ceremony with national zeal and zest.
Though Gwadar University does exist in Gwadar it has been functioning on allocated portions of two educational institutions’ buildings under a stop-gap arrangement. Now with the groundbreaking event, Gwadar University will have its own buildings on a total of 500 acres of land near Pishkan area, a few kilometres away from Gwadar City.
Talking to Gwadar Pro, Gwadar University Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Syed Manzoor Ahmed said that the total cost of the project stands at Rs 2.5 billion and it will be completed in three years.
The University of Gwadar has formally been operationalised and started functioning as a full-fledged autonomous university soon after a vice chancellor was appointed by Governor Balochistan on 25th October, 2021. Earlier it remained a sub campus of University of Turbat from September, 2016 to October, 2021.
