K2 Airways, Chinese company sign agreement for cargo flight operations between China and Pakistan.

In a move to boost trade ties between Pakistan and China, K2 Airways has partnered with a Chinese state-owned Development and Logistics Group to launch cargo flight operations between Karachi and Kashgar.

The signing ceremony took place at a prominent hotel in Karachi, with Sindh’s Minister for Industries and Commerce, Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, serving as the chief guest. The event was also graced by officials from the Chinese consulate.

The private airline plans to initiate cargo flights from Karachi to Kashgar via Lahore by the end of this month.

Initially, K2 Airways will operate three cargo flights per week, with intentions to increase frequency as its network grows. Minister Dharejo highlighted that Pakistan and China share a deep-rooted relationship, further strengthened by the CPEC initiative.

In a report, Dharejo emphasized that K2 Airways will be the first Pakistani airline to start cargo operations to China, noting growing Chinese interest in Pakistani seafood.

He also added that Chinese businesses are keen to import IT-related products to Pakistan, making the new cargo link mutually beneficial.

A Chinese company representative noted that Kashgar, being a vital commercial hub, will serve as a strategic starting point for the expansion of trade routes to other cities in China.

K2 Airways CEO Tariq Majeed Raja announced plans to grow the airline’s operations to additional Chinese cities, focusing on exporting fresh produce to China and facilitating imports of e-commerce products from China to Pakistan.

K2 Airways, supported by UAE-based Pakistani entrepreneurs with a strong passion for aviation, is pioneering the use of Embraer E-Jets in Pakistan’s commercial airline sector.

The airline aims to connect less-utilized regional airports across Pakistan with major cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, enhancing domestic connectivity.

In order to establish a robust, technologically competent, and digitally enabled aviation organization in Pakistan, the entrepreneurs and experts who are supporting the airline believe in “utilising modern automation tools and gathering young and dynamic professionals” in the team.
