Interactive session strengthens Pak-China youth cooperation aimed at connecting Pakistan’s youth with China’s development and progress in the country.
An interactive session was held online organized by the China Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan to engage various Chinese enterprises with the 4th Delegation of Balochistan Youth Exchange Program that is on a visit to Islamabad.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Mustafa Hyder Syed, Executive Director Pakistan China Institute (PCI), emphasized the session’s goal to engage youth in fostering Pak-China collaboration. He highlighted the annual cooperation between Gwadar University and PCI, inviting local residents to exchange ideas and learn about China-Pakistan partnerships.
Ms. Zhong Shufen, Secretary General, CCCPK / Representative, Bank of China started her session remarks by extending gratitude to PCI for its efforts in advancing bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and China. She explained CCCPK’s role as a hub for Chinese enterprises, promoting government cooperation and sustainable development. Further, she referenced CCCPK’s recent reports, including “The Glorious 11 Years: How Chinese Companies Reshaped the Power Sector in Pakistan” and the “Business Climate Index of Chinese Companies in Pakistan”, which underscore contributions to Pakistan’s power sector and investment climate. She further highlighted the efforts made as a result of their commitment towards corporate social responsibility that included women empowerment and promoting sustainable energy.
Mr. Shi Hongwei, Representative from CCCC Pakistan Investment Company shared his eight-year connection with Gwadar, describing key projects like the Gwadar Deep Water Project, the East Bay Expressway, and the Gwadar Free Zone. He highlighted CCCC’s social initiatives, including hiring local staff, donating fishing nets to fishermen, and promoting solar energy.
Furthermore, Mr. Li Hualin, Representative, China Power Hub Generation Company (CPHGC) detailed the socio-economic impact of CPHGC’s operations in Lasbela District, providing school supplies to over 2,000 students and supporting local families with food and healthcare products. He praised the long-standing contributions of CPHGC to community development.
Then, Ms. Liu Hui, Representative, Linyi Trade City Overseas Investment outlined the contributions of Linyi Trade City, ranging from establishing Linyi Trade City in Gwadar to hosting international expos. Recent initiatives include donation projects benefiting the local community especially women in Gwadar, focusing on empowerment and education. The company is also focused on expanding trade between the two countries.
Additionally, through an informative video, MCC Resources Development discussed the Saindak Project’s role in economic cooperation. Despite facing financial challenges at some stages of the project, MCC has driven progress in Balochistan, establishing healthcare facilities, building a high school, and ensuring employee safety.
Finally, the session opened for a Question/Answer session where student participants actively pitched ideas and expressed hope to contribute through internship opportunities. The session concluded with a commitment to increased engagement and deeper Pakistan China collaboration.
