The Opening Ceremony of Mayor Scholarship Program for Foreign Students of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Silk Road Program 2021 and HUAWEI Pakistan ICT Middle and Senior Managers Training Course was held on Monday. Mr. Wang Lufeng, Dean, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Dept. of Chongqing Industry Polytechnic College (CQIPC) chaired the session.

The training aims to cultivate middle and senior enterprise management talents who understand Chinese enterprise culture, master the Chinese enterprise management system and have ICT talent technical skills. The training content covers theoretical courses including enterprise development and management innovation. And the course will continue for 20 days, focusing on online course teaching and online project-based teaching.

Information and communications technologies (ICT) have become crucial growth engines for many different industries in recent years. Welcoming 25 students who participate in the training, Mr. Lan Wenkui, Director, International Affairs of CQIPC, highlighted that the improvement of the professional and technical ability of ICT managers will effectively alleviate the shortage of ICT management personnel in Pakistan and other BRI countries. He stated that, “the implementation of this program will also promote the exchange of technology and culture between China and Pakistan, and become an important window for Chongqing’s foreign exchanges.”

Introducing the program, Mr. Cheng Guochun, General Manager, DevCloud Innovation Center, Chongqing Huawei Technology Co Ltd mentioned that CQIPC and Huawei Technologies Co Ltd jointly train middle and senior management personnel for BRI countries by making full use of their respective benefits. The two sides have complemented each other’s advantages and strive to build an ICT talent training environment and knowledge architecture that best meets the requirements of the market. In 2018 and 2019, a total of 34 technical and management personnel were trained for Pakistan.

Ms. Dai Shuo, Class Advisor of the program, emphasized that across the ICT ecosystem, there is an urgent need for large numbers of technical staff who can address the challenges posed by this transformation. “As an ICT leader, HUAWEI is committed to promoting ICT industry development. It operates and aims to drive long-term economic, social, and environmental sustainability, which also seeks to close the gap between knowledge learned in the classroom and the skills required by the industry, and enhance knowledge transfer.”

The Mayor Scholarship Program for Foreign Students of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Silk Road Program serves China’s BRI, promotes people-to-people connectivity and provides talent support for BRI countries. It also collaborates with enterprises to jointly train industry leaders and excellent technical and skilled personnel in BRI countries and facilitate local enterprises to go global.
