Gwadar port: Perimetric Security System comes in action, 675 cameras installed while Gwadar Safe City Project is also advancing.
In a significant advancement, the Perimetric Security System (PSS), featuring the installation of 675 advanced security cameras, became fully operational in the Gwadar Port area on September 29.
This Rs 252.350 million system enhances security for Gwadar Port, its surrounding infrastructure, buildings under the Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), and both the Gwadar Free Zone South and North. The PSS is a multifunctional system designed for threat detection, surveillance, and attack analysis, aiming to ensure a secure environment around Gwadar Port and its adjoining Free Zone.
GPA Chairman Passand Khan highlighted that the installation of this modern security system has improved the flow of goods and services. MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch commended the initiative and encouraged both local and foreign investors to invest in Gwadar, praising the port operator’s efforts in bolstering security.
Jahangir Sabir, a local travel agent, emphasized that this security upgrade is crucial for Gwadar’s economic growth, stating that the PSS acts as an “insurance policy” for future developments, including the tourism, hotel, and retail industries.
Additionally, the Balochistan government is advancing the Gwadar Safe City Project. The first phase has progressed with the creation of a Project Management Unit (PMU) and the completion of technical and financial feasibility reports, aligned with the Gwadar Smart Port City Master Plan 2025.
With an estimated budget of Rs 3,325.6 million, the Gwadar Safe City Project is being implemented by the Ministry of Homes and Tribal Affairs, in partnership with the Ministry of Science and Technology under the Government of Balochistan.
