GWADAR, Aug 14 – To commemorate Independence Day, the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has extended invitations to companies and joint venture entities, aiming to foster collaboration in the promising prospects within the Gwadar landscape of Balochistan. Numerous enticing projects are available for private investment, providing an opportunity to contribute to the region’s development and growth.
As per GDA, currently, four projects are open for Private Investment and Joint venture. These include the “GDA Gwadar Club,” “Food Street on West Bay Gwadar,” “Water Sports Facilities at GDA Model Beach Park,” and “Funland Park at GDA Central Park.”
The GDA intends to establish the GDA Club and various recreation facilities through joint ventures to harness Gwadar’s tourism potential. The project’s goal is to create architectural and landscape facilities that inspire, entertain, and connect visitors with nature. This initiative is expected to generate revenue while offering hospitality, leisure, and entertainment for the local population of Gwadar.
According to the Master Plan, the West Bay-Western part of Gwadar is dedicated to recreational and commercial activities. Spaces near West Bay are also utilized for traditional boat making, public spaces for youth, and local sports, with the picturesque view of West Bay and Koh-e-Batil making it a distinctive landscape. With the establishment of the “Food Street, West Bay Gwadar” project through joint ventures, the GDA aims to construct a food street and associated facilities along this marine drive, further harnessing the tourism potential.
The establishment of a Funland Park in Central Park is a global trend seen in theme parks like Jurassic Park or Disneyland, which attract millions of visitors annually. Such Funland theme parks have significant potential in large cities of the country, and Gwadar’s trajectory towards such developments requires these facilities to attract national and local tourism, thereby transforming its economy with increased footfall. The land has been allocated for the Funland Park in Central Park, covering an area of 4.13 acres within the 12-acre Central Park. The operator is expected to maintain key performance indicators and service levels for operating the facility.
In all the aforementioned projects, the JV partners are expected to invest in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the proposed facilities, while the responsibility of land allocation, provision of utilities to sites, and necessary permits lie with GDA. These conditions will be further elaborated in the concession agreement and financial model. This presents an opportunity for both international and national consortiums, developers, and investor groups to participate as partners in profitable ventures within the investor-friendly and developing landscapes of Gwadar, Balochistan.
