FM Wang Yi participates in CICA Meeting while stressing on China’s crucial role in the development of the organization.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi participated in the seventh foreign ministers’ meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) via video link on Tuesday.
As a founding member of CICA, China actively engages in its processes and remains committed to supporting its growth, Wang noted, highlighting China’s enduring role in the organization’s development.
Wang emphasized that ensuring security, fostering development, advancing cooperation, and achieving mutual benefits are key aspirations for most nations. He urged CICA to leverage its distinctive position to build a shared future for Asia and open new avenues for collaborative development.
He called on CICA member nations to uphold peaceful coexistence and collective security, advance Belt and Road cooperation for shared prosperity, honor cultural diversity to encourage mutual learning, and embrace multilateralism to create a harmonious region.
Highlighting China’s peaceful development approach, Wang asserted that Chinese modernization would bring more opportunities to Asian nations. He expressed readiness to work with CICA members to establish a cooperative Asian civilization marked by solidarity and mutual success.
Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Murat Nurtleu reflected on achievements as CICA’s rotating chair, while Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, the new chair, outlined priorities for the future.
Member states stressed the need for unity, strategic coordination, and strengthening the CICA framework. They discussed aligning the Belt and Road Initiative with the Global Security Initiative, enhancing regional connectivity, and promoting understanding among nations.
