The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) announced that its first batch of relief supplies arrived in Mandalay, the epicenter of Myanmar’s recent 7.9-magnitude earthquake, on Wednesday.
This shipment includes more than 4,900 essential aid items such as tents, blankets, folding beds, and family kits to assist affected families. The Myanmar Red Cross, with the support of an RCSC rescue team already present in Myanmar, will oversee the distribution of these supplies and aid in setting up temporary shelters.
Following the devastating earthquake on March 28, the RCSC swiftly contributed 1.5 million yuan (approximately 208,900 U.S. dollars) in emergency assistance. In response to Myanmar’s request, the organization sent relief materials and deployed a rescue team to the hardest-hit areas to carry out humanitarian aid efforts.
At present, 15 RCSC rescuers in Mandalay are engaged in search-and-rescue missions, delivering medical care, and offering psychological support to those affected by the disaster.
