The initial consignment of Pakistan’s premium dried chilies, weighing 182 tonnes, has reached Neijiang city in Sichuan Province, China, according to a report by China Economic Net (CEN) on Sunday.
This substantial shipment not only signifies a new phase in the trade relations between the two nations but is also anticipated to pave the way for increased economic cooperation, as highlighted by Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan’s ambassador to China.
Speaking at the ceremony commemorating the arrival and warehousing of the dried chilies under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Agricultural Cooperation Project, Ambassador Hashmi emphasized that Pakistan, renowned for its flavorful and aromatic spices, has been a major exporter of dried chilies for a considerable time.
The country’s unique climatic conditions and fertile soil create an ideal environment for cultivating these fiery red peppers, known for their exceptional taste and quality.
Ambassador Hashmi further noted that the arrival of the first batch of dried chilies in Neijiang City marks a significant milestone in the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China. This event not only strengthens economic ties but also promotes cultural exchange, allowing Chinese consumers to savor the rich flavors of Pakistani cuisine.
The representative of the company involved in the import stated that the dried chilies have already generated excitement among local traders and spice enthusiasts. The shipment arrived in excellent condition, showcasing the efficiency of the logistics and supply chain systems.
He added that Chinese importers and spice traders had eagerly awaited the arrival of these dried chilies, given their high demand in the Chinese market. The aromatic and spicy nature of Pakistani chilies makes them a crucial ingredient in many Chinese dishes, contributing a distinct flavor and enhancing the overall culinary experience.
