KARACHI, Nov 7 – Thar Coal Block-1 Power Generation Company (PVT.) Limited, and Sino Sindh Resources Private Limited (SSRL), subsidiaries of Shanghai Electric, have been honored with the esteemed 13th Annual Fire and Safety Excellence Awards, in recognition of their steadfast commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and prioritizing the safety and well-being of their workforce. This prestigious accolade highlights their exemplary efforts in setting a benchmark for industry-wide excellence and responsible corporate practices.
Thar Coal Block-1 (TCB-1) Power Generation Company and SSRL are collaboratively spearheading the 1320MW Thar Block-1 Integrated Energy Project. Their outstanding contributions were recognized at the 13th Annual Fire and Safety Excellence Awards, 2023, hosted alongside the Annual Fire and Safety Convention at a prominent hotel in Karachi. Acknowledging their significant achievements, both TCB-1 and SSRL were honored with distinguished awards during this noteworthy event.
Meng Donghai, Chairman of TCB-1 and SSRL, conveyed his satisfaction at the companies’ third consecutive recognition for their unwavering dedication to ensuring workers’ safety.

“TCB-1 and SSRL have always kept the safety and well-being of our workers as our top priority,” Mr. Donghai stated in an official communication, reaffirming, “we will continue with this resolve and will take all out measures to keep our workers safe.”
The event was organized by the National Forum for Environment & Health (NFEH) and was supported by the Fire Protection Industry Pakistan (FPIP) and the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE). NFEH serves as a vital fire protection trade association in Pakistan, offering non-profit operations and crucial fire safety training. On the other hand, IFE, with over 100 years of history, plays a global role in shaping a safer future from fire.
