Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar expressed strong appreciation for China’s initiative in conceptualizing and launching the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed).
He shared these remarks while speaking at the signing ceremony of the IOMed Convention held in Hong Kong, a Special Administrative Region of China.
At the event, the Deputy Prime Minister formally signed the IOMed Convention on behalf of Pakistan.
He also offered warm congratulations to the Chinese government for successfully organizing this landmark event.
Dar praised China’s leadership, highlighting its vital role in transforming a collective vision into a functioning global institution, calling it a reflection of Chinese foresight and statesmanship.
He noted that the signing of the Convention signals the beginning of a new chapter in international diplomacy and mediation, and marks the establishment of a key institution that upholds the values of multilateralism.
Dar stated that Pakistan firmly believes peace, security, and global progress can only be sustained through commitment to the UN Charter, implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, and adherence to international law.
Referring to regional tensions, he criticized India’s recent unjustified military aggression, describing it as a clear breach of international law and a threat to regional and global peace.
He also condemned India’s move to suspend treaties like the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty and its violations of human rights and humanitarian law, warning that such actions set alarming precedents.
Dar emphasized that these aggressive acts defy international calls for restraint and efforts toward reducing tensions.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to resolving conflicts through peaceful means.
Addressing the Kashmir issue, Dar reiterated that the unresolved Jammu and Kashmir dispute continues to be the core cause of instability in South Asia.
