CTD arrests suicide bomber from Burki area Lahore, which after investigation was revealed to be getting training from Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested a suicide bomber, Shamsullah, who received training in Afghanistan. He was apprehended in Lahore’s Burki area.
According to initial investigations, Shamsullah was trained under the supervision of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar commanders and entered Pakistan through a border crossing near Chaman.
The CTD also reported detaining 11 suspected terrorists during 166 intelligence-based operations conducted across various cities, including Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Pakpattan, Gujrat, Chakwal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Faisalabad.
Authorities recovered a substantial cache of explosives, detonators, and cash from the arrested individuals.
During interrogation, Shamsullah admitted that Jamaat-ul-Ahrar commanders Suleman and Qasim Khorasani trained him in Afghanistan and assigned him suicide attack missions in Pakistan.
Qasim Khorasani, a senior leader of the group, is allegedly responsible for orchestrating targeted attacks on police officers in Lahore and Peshawar. Officials revealed that Shamsullah and other recruits were forcibly drugged during training to ensure their obedience.
Lahore Police described the arrests as a major breakthrough in preventing potential security threats. The CTD reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks across the region.
