CPEC Phase II to be accelerated, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong stated during a virtual address at the international conference in Peshawar.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong has reiterated Beijing’s strong dedication to enhancing bilateral relations and pushing forward the next stage of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He shared these views during a virtual keynote speech at an international seminar in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The seminar was a collaborative effort by China Window, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, and the Institute of Management Sciences, drawing a diverse group of attendees from academia, media, business circles, and the diplomatic community.
Ambassador Jiang acknowledged and appreciated the contributions of all sectors supporting the strong Pakistan-China partnership.
Referring to the recent Central Conference on Neighborhood Diplomacy held in Beijing, he highlighted President Xi Jinping’s commitment to creating a “Community with a Shared Future” grounded in trust, joint development, and regional unity.
He described the “ironclad friendship” between the two nations and showcased CPEC’s successes, including $25.4 billion in Chinese investment, the creation of 236,000 jobs, and major infrastructure improvements such as energy projects, road networks, and the completion of Gwadar New International Airport.
The ambassador also pointed out humanitarian contributions like health kit distribution, school reconstruction in KP, and heart treatments for children, framing them as reflections of the two countries’ enduring friendship.
He went on to unveil upcoming initiatives focused on public welfare, such as solar-powered systems, food aid, clean drinking water programs, and scholarship expansions, especially for youth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He also announced that Pakistani delegations will soon visit Xinjiang to foster deeper cultural engagement between the two nations.
Addressing global economic matters, Jiang criticized the United States for imposing unjust tariffs and breaching WTO regulations, warning such actions could destabilize the global economy.
He advocated for genuine multilateralism and equitable trade norms, stressing that China and Pakistan will remain united against economic pressures and coercive tactics.
Looking ahead to 2025, the 10-year anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Pakistan, the ambassador reaffirmed China’s pledge to advance CPEC, broaden bilateral cooperation, and work together for shared progress and prosperity.
