July 22 – Copper Art Exhibition in Beijing kicks off in National museum of China.
An exhibition highlighting copper art treasures opened at the National Museum of China in Beijing on Monday.
Titled “Bridging Eras: The Copper Art of Zhu Bingren through Eight Decades,” this three-month display features over 100 intricate copper-carved works by Zhu Bingren, a renowned copper sculptor and key figure in preserving Hangzhou’s copper carving tradition.
Hangzhou’s copper carving techniques, which evolved from bronze casting methods, were listed as part of China’s national intangible cultural heritage in 2008. These techniques have been preserved and developed through generations.
Wei Na, an exhibition organizer, noted that the collection weighs a total of 35.6 tonnes, emphasizing the exhibition’s significance. The event aims to blend modern copper-carving techniques with the ancient bronze civilization.
