Two naval fleets, one from China and the other from Vietnam, concluded a two-day joint patrol in the Beibu Gulf on Wednesday.
The patrol involved four vessels and covered over 200 nautical miles. During this operation, the fleets worked to improve communication by exchanging information on hydrometeorology, their surroundings, and the courses and speeds of the ships.
To enhance coordination and cooperation, the fleets alternated in commanding the joint formation, according to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy.
The patrol is considered highly significant for reinforcing the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. It aims to deepen mutual trust between the two militaries and enhance their joint naval capabilities for addressing maritime emergencies and ensuring maritime security and stability, the navy stated.
This joint patrol marks the 37th such operation conducted by the Chinese and Vietnamese navies in the Beibu Gulf.
