Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Colombian Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo in Beijing on Saturday.
Han emphasized that in the 44 years since China and Colombia established diplomatic relations, the relationship between the two nations has seen steady growth. He urged both countries to fully implement the key agreements made by their leaders, enhance political trust, and continue supporting each other firmly.
Han welcomed Colombia’s efforts to join the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and encouraged tapping into the full potential for collaboration. He also noted that China is willing to strengthen multilateral cooperation with Colombia, promoting genuine multilateralism to build a community with a shared future for all humanity.
Murillo reaffirmed Colombia’s commitment to the one-China principle and expressed interest in actively participating in the BRI while expanding cooperation with China across multiple sectors. He agreed with the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and expressed Colombia’s readiness to collaborate with the Global South in safeguarding international fairness and justice.
