Chinese President Xi Jinping will inaugurate the Gwadar airport during his upcoming visit to the South Asian nation, says former caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Alauddin Marri.
Marri, a noted businessman, and a social worker made these remarks during his recent visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) where he pointed out huge business opportunities offered by Gwadar port.
He added that the Chinese President will open the important airport when he travels to Pakistan soon. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a key component of China’s One Belt, One Road plan, includes the airport.
According to Marri, The port city provides enormous commercial prospects to both domestic and foreign investors in a number of industries, including tourism, trade logistics, fishing, processing, and manufacturing.
In order to look into commercial investment potential, the port city’s former caretaker CM asked ICCI members to visit.
He said that the coastline district will be connected to the Pakistan-Iran transmission line this year, at which point it will receive an additional 100MW of power from Iran. Gwadar and many other regions of the sparsely inhabited region are not yet connected to the national grid.
