Chinese premier urges higher-level China-Africa trade cooperation at the opening ceremony of the eight conference of Chinese and African entrepreneurs.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Friday urged China and Africa to strengthen their collaboration, particularly in economic and trade relations, aiming to take these ties to a higher level.
In a speech delivered at the opening of the eighth Conference of Chinese and African Entrepreneurs in Beijing, Li emphasized that economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa forms the foundation of their partnership and is a crucial factor in promoting modernization efforts for both regions.
Li pointed out that both China and Africa need to align their markets more closely. He mentioned that China would independently increase market access for the least developed countries and streamline the process for African agricultural exports through a green channel.
Furthermore, Li highlighted China’s readiness to partner with Africa to enhance mutual market openness. He called for the acceleration of negotiations and the signing of framework agreements to build strong economic partnerships.
Li also advocated for deeper industrial integration, expressing China’s intent to collaborate with Africa in industrial supply chains. This partnership aims to ensure the stability and efficiency of global industrial and supply chains.
Additionally, Li stressed the importance of fostering innovation. He noted that China is eager to cooperate with Africa in key areas such as the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and new energy, aiming to develop new growth drivers and uncover fresh opportunities for economic advancement.
Around 1,000 attendees, including African leaders participating in the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and representatives from businesses on both sides, were present at the conference’s opening ceremony.
