Chinese premier starts Saudi Arabia visit to further boost cooperation expressing optimism towards bilateral cooperation.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived in Riyadh on Tuesday to preside over the Fourth Meeting of the High-Level Chinese-Saudi Joint Committee and to visit Saudi Arabia. He expressed optimism that his visit would enhance the alignment of development strategies between China and Saudi Arabia, further elevating their bilateral relationship.
Li highlighted the longstanding and strong friendship between the two nations, noting that their 34 years of diplomatic ties have led to rapid growth and fruitful cooperation in various fields, thanks to joint efforts.
He recalled that in December 2022, President Xi Jinping attended both the first China-Arab States Summit and the first China-GCC Summit, alongside a state visit to Saudi Arabia. Li emphasized that over the past year, both countries have diligently implemented the results of these summits, reinforcing political trust, expanding cooperation, and closely coordinating on regional and global matters. This has added new dimensions to their comprehensive strategic partnership.
During his visit, Li plans to hold detailed talks with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, aiming to boost cooperation and strengthen their mutual ties.
He also expressed hope that his trip would deepen cooperation across various sectors, enhance people-to-people ties, and promote further development in China-GCC and China-Arab relations. Saudi Arabia is the first stop in Li’s four-day Middle East tour, which also includes a visit to the UAE.
