Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang arrived in Rawalpindi on Monday for a four-day visit to Pakistan, during which he will engage in discussions on various mutual interests in conjunction with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
The Chinese Premier is visiting Pakistan after 11 years for a four day visit accompanied by high level officials from Chinese embassy. Guard of honor at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad will be presented to Premier Li Qiang.
Invited by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Li’s visit will take place from October 14 to 17, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Elaborating on the agenda of the Chinese Prime Minister’s visit, the Foreign Office indicated that he and PM Shehbaz will lead their respective delegations in a comprehensive dialogue covering all facets of Pakistan-China relations, including economic and trade partnerships and collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
In addition, the Chinese Premier is scheduled to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari and engage with parliamentary leaders and senior military officials of Pakistan.
Li’s visit coincides with the gathering of numerous high-ranking foreign leaders in Islamabad for the Heads of Government meeting, the SCO’s supreme decision-making body, which convenes annually to address key organizational matters.
