Li Qiang, Chinese premier calls for boosting robot industry through global collaboration while attending the Robot Expo in Beijing. Chinese Premier Li Qiang highlighted the importance of creating an open environment for technical innovation and encouraging foreign companies and research institutions to invest in China, particularly in advancing the robot industry through enhanced global collaboration.
During his visit to the 2024 World Robot Expo in Beijing on Sunday, Li emphasized the need to establish and effectively utilize platforms for industrial cooperation, ensuring the stability and smooth operation of industrial and supply chains, and promoting technical innovation within the global robot industry.
While touring the expo’s exhibition hall, Li inquired about the performance, technological advantages, and applications of various robots on display.
The expo was part of the five-day World Robot Conference, which began on Wednesday, themed “Co-fostering New Quality Productive Forces for a Shared Intelligent Future.”
Li urged increased efforts to drive technical innovation and industrial development, aiming to cultivate new growth engines and continuously enhance people’s well-being.
Furthermore, he referred to robots as a key indicator of technical innovation and high-end manufacturing capabilities, stressing that innovation should focus on industrial upgrading, meeting consumer demands, and staying at the forefront of global industry.
Li also pointed out that China’s advantages, such as a vast domestic market and abundant innovation opportunities, should be fully leveraged, and the application of robot-related technologies in sectors like manufacturing, agriculture, and services should be accelerated.
To further boost the robot industry, Li emphasized the importance of attracting more venture capital, incubating more unicorn companies and “little giant” firms – small and medium-sized enterprises specializing in niche markets with cutting-edge technologies – and developing industrial clusters with unique specialties and strengths.
