Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with diplomatic envoys from 10 ASEAN countries in Beijing on Thursday.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted that China-ASEAN relations have brought significant stability to the region and the world, emphasizing the importance of preserving these ties.
China remains committed to supporting ASEAN’s central role and aims to collaborate with ASEAN to sustain the positive momentum in their relations. Wang affirmed China’s dedication to contributing to the peaceful development of the region.
Wang expressed China’s readiness to deepen its collaboration with ASEAN, moving from peaceful coexistence to building a shared future. He invited ASEAN nations to leverage opportunities arising from China’s development to achieve modernization in Asia and globally.
ASEAN envoys in China noted the year’s significance as a milestone in the diplomatic ties between ASEAN and China.
The envoys emphasized their interest in enhancing cooperation in areas like economy, trade, connectivity, digital economy, green transformation, and sustainable development. They also expressed their commitment to advancing ASEAN-China relations and strengthening people-to-people exchanges.
