Chinese firms sign record $435 million contracts at HEMS 2025 with China being the largest among the international participants.

A record-breaking number of Chinese companies participated in the 4th Health, Engineering, and Minerals Show (HEMS) held in Lahore from April 17 to 19, highlighting the strengthening economic relationship between China and Pakistan.

According to Pakistan’s Embassy in Beijing, over 200 Chinese enterprises took part in this year’s exhibition—twice the number that participated in 2024—making it the largest foreign representation. The increase was credited to the joint coordination of the embassy and its consulates in Shanghai, Chengdu, and Guangzhou.

Throughout the three-day event, more than 150 Chinese firms engaged in B2B meetings across various industries, such as healthcare, engineering, and mining, resulting in 37 signed agreements including MoUs, Letters of Intent (LOIs), and contracts with a total worth exceeding $435 million.

Among the key deals were a $60 million quartz stone export agreement (including $10 million in investment), a $50 million pledge for investment in Pakistan’s mineral development, a $45 million medical device joint venture, and an $80 million electric vehicle technology transfer contract. Chinese companies also showed interest in sectors like salt, copper, fluorite, gemstones, IT, real estate, and Pakistani product branding.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif hosted a dinner attended by over 800 delegates from 50 countries. The significant Chinese presence, which was the largest among international participants, was widely praised. The Prime Minister applauded the efforts of the Ambassador and his team for bringing the largest-ever Chinese business delegation to the country.

On the sidelines of the event, Pakistan’s Ambassador held meetings with the Chinese Consul General in Lahore and senior Punjab officials, including the Chief Secretary and the Additional Secretary of the Board of Investment (BOI). At the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), the Ambassador chaired a roundtable with provincial leaders from agriculture, healthcare, industry, and investment sectors, highlighting the Embassy’s investor facilitation and promoting more targeted B2B initiatives.

Additionally, the Embassy collaborated with Habib Rafiq (Pvt.) Ltd. to organize a high-profile networking lunch that brought together prominent Chinese and Pakistani business figures to explore new avenues in the minerals, construction, and automotive industries.
