China and Europe’s automotive industries have strong foundations and significant potential for collaboration, Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao stated on Friday.
During a video call with Ola Kallenius, president of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) and chairman of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Wang welcomed European carmakers to expand their investments and strengthen their presence in China.
He emphasized that resolving the European Union’s anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese electric vehicles would benefit both regions and align with the broader interests of the industry.
Wang urged ACEA and Mercedes-Benz to actively engage with the European Commission, encouraging it to make a political decision swiftly. He expressed hope that both sides would collaborate to find a mutually acceptable solution as soon as possible.
Kallenius affirmed Mercedes-Benz Group’s long-term commitment to the Chinese market and expressed optimism about resolving trade disputes through dialogue and cooperation.
