Chinese envoy reaffirms China’s commitment to bolster ties with Pakistan and underlined the strength of Pakistan China friendship.
Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori hosted a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong at the Governor House on Thursday, where they discussed Pak-China relations, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and Chinese investments in Sindh. Tessori highlighted the strength of the Pak-China friendship, describing it as “higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the ocean.” He emphasized Pakistan’s interest in benefiting from China’s development model, particularly with the completion of the Karachi Circular Railway under CPEC for regional progress.
The governor also pointed out that peace in Sindh is fostering investment, especially in information technology, and expressed hope that China’s support in the IT sector would accelerate development. Ambassador Jiang praised Governor Tessori’s initiatives and reaffirmed China’s commitment to collaborating on projects. He mentioned that the Hexing Group is interested in investing in renewable energy, aiming to establish a Chinese company in Pakistan to produce inverters and batteries.
In a show of friendship, Governor Tessori presented the ambassador with a traditional Jinnah cap and shawl, and the ambassador participated in a tree-planting campaign at the Governor House. Tessori announced that the Governor House would facilitate cooperation between investors from both countries, with the Chinese consul general maintaining close contact for this purpose. The governor expressed confidence in China’s continued support, highlighting the importance of completing CPEC projects, and reassured Chinese investors of strong security measures.
Governor Tessori also emphasized the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and China, extending beyond governmental relations to strong public bonds. Ambassador Jiang lauded the IT classes and other initiatives led by Tessori, and during his visit, expressed his appreciation for Karachi as Pakistan’s economic hub. He pledged full cooperation to enhance bilateral ties and acknowledged the significance of visiting Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s room at the Governor House.
Later, Tessori met with newly appointed US Consul General Scott Urbom to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, diplomacy, trade, and investment. Tessori congratulated Urbom and emphasized the US consul general’s role in promoting investment and trade in Sindh. He pointed out that the peaceful environment and support from the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) are conducive to investment. Urbom praised the province’s peaceful atmosphere and expressed the United States’ desire for a prosperous Pakistan, highlighting the natural alliance between the two nations.
