Chinese Embassy hosts winter solstice cultural exchange in US which gathered various people from social sectors of the country.
The Chinese Embassy in the U.S. recently organized a cultural event titled “Celebrating the Winter Solstice: Sharing Warmth and Culture.”
Taking place on December 20, the gathering brought together over 50 attendees from diverse U.S. social sectors and foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C.
Participants had the chance to experience various aspects of Chinese culture, including musical performances, Sichuan opera face-changing, and sampling Winter Solstice specialties. Activities like dumpling-making, tea-tasting, and traditional Chinese medicine demonstrations further immersed guests in the essence of Chinese traditions.
Wang Dan, spouse of Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. Xie Feng, spoke about the cultural and symbolic importance of the Winter Solstice, emphasizing its message of warmth and hope during winter. She invited the attendees to explore China firsthand in 2025.
Panama’s Ambassador to the Organization of American States, Ana Irene Delgado, noted that culture’s richness and diversity transcend borders, creating connections between people worldwide. She highlighted the global relevance of harmony between humanity and nature, which also deepens ties between China and Panama.
Carla Canales, senior advisor for cultural exchange for the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, shared reflections on her visits to China. She likened culture to an interconnected network of rivers, underscoring the significance of the event in fostering global cultural understanding.
