The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar has provided financial assistance amounting to 1.5 million yuan (approximately 206,700 U.S. dollars) to the Myanmar Red Cross Society.
On Tuesday, Minister Counselor Cao Jing met with Myo Nyunt, President of the Myanmar Red Cross Society, and officially handed over the donation on behalf of the Red Cross Society of China.
Cao conveyed China’s deep condolences to the government and people of Myanmar for the casualties and property damage resulting from the 7.9-magnitude earthquake that struck on Friday.
He also highlighted that China has pledged 100 million yuan in emergency humanitarian aid for earthquake relief, with several Chinese rescue teams already deployed in the affected areas.
Cao emphasized that this contribution from the Red Cross Society of China is a testament to the strong bond and goodwill between the Chinese and Myanmar people.
Expressing gratitude, Myo Nyunt acknowledged China’s swift response and support, stating that the Myanmar Red Cross Society is committed to working closely with China to overcome challenges and accelerate the rebuilding process.
