Chinese cultivate medicinal aloe-vera in Pakistan for export to China.
In Punjab’s green fields, aloe vera plants are flourishing under the sun. HanGeng Trade and Yuanhua Industrial, specializing in medical supply chains, have trialled the cultivation of medicinal aloe vera, showing promising results. Consequently, this success is paving the way for large-scale cultivation, with plans to expand to 1,000 acres for export to China, addressing its rising demand for medicinal plants.
Andy Liao, CEO of HanGeng Trade and Yuanhua Industrial, said they had already conducted experimental cultivation in Punjab. In October, a 5-acre test plot was planted, and the initial outcomes were highly positive. Further, Liao expressed optimism about scaling up operations with support from local farmers and government collaboration, ensuring the successful export of quality aloe vera to China.
Additionally, the company is now coordinating with local agricultural experts to finalize project details. This involves identifying the best aloe varieties for Punjab’s climate, sharing knowledge with farmers, and promoting sustainable farming.
Moreover, China’s pharmaceutical and healthcare industries have a strong demand for high-quality medicinal aloe vera. According to Ruben Daniel Avaro of Aloetrade America LLC, China’s aloe vera market has grown significantly, reaching a value of USD 1.2 billion, with a compound annual growth rate of 7% over the past five years.
