Chinese CG donates solar powered systems to Balochistan aiming to reduce dependance on unreliable electricity grids.

The Chinese Consulate General in Karachi has donated 38 solar-powered systems to Balochistan, benefiting regions such as Kalat, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, Zhob, Nushki, and Khuzdar.

This initiative supports schools, hospitals, mosques, and tribal communities, aiming to reduce reliance on unstable electricity grids, address local energy shortages, and enhance the quality of life for residents in remote areas.

On February 8, a handover ceremony was organized by the Chinese Consulate General, with attendees including Consul General Yang Yundong, Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jafar Khan Mandokhel, and local residents. The event marked the successful completion of the project.

During his speech, Consul General Yang Yundong emphasized that China’s donation of solar-powered systems to Balochistan reflects the strong and enduring strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan. He highlighted it as a symbol of China’s deep-rooted fraternal ties and selfless assistance to the province.

Community leaders, school officials, hospital staff, and religious figures in Balochistan have welcomed the project as a testament to the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China, expressing heartfelt appreciation for China’s generosity.

Yang Yundong further stated that China and Pakistan share a strong relationship as close neighbors, strategic partners, and trusted allies.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship initiative under the Belt and Road framework, has significantly contributed to Pakistan’s economic and social progress. It has also emerged as a key platform for fostering broad-based cooperation between the two nations.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the need for the Economic Corridor’s development to extend across Pakistan, ensuring that its benefits reach the entire population.

During President Zardari’s recent visit to China, both nations issued a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to expanding China-Pakistan cooperation to all regions, with the goal of benefiting the entire Pakistani population.

China continues to advance Gwadar Port’s development by improving its functionality and increasing the appeal of the Gwadar Free Zone.

Significant infrastructure projects have been completed, including the Gwadar China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital, which is fully equipped with modern medical facilities, and the Gwadar Desalination Plant. Additionally, the newly inaugurated Gwadar International Airport recently welcomed its first domestic and international flights, creating new opportunities for connectivity between the port and the broader region.

The development of Gwadar is expected to drive economic growth across Balochistan, gradually benefiting a larger portion of the province.
