Chinese blockbuster Ne Zha 2 shines in Europe making it a significant source of Chinese cultural exchange.
The Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2, which has become the highest-grossing animated film of all time, began its release in cinemas across Denmark and other Nordic countries this week.
Trinity CineAsia, the European distributor that secured the film’s theatrical rights in 37 European nations, has reported impressive box office results since the film’s debut in Europe in March.
As per the distributor’s release plan, Ne Zha 2 is now screening in over 20 cities across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland, starting this week.
This large-scale release reflects the confidence of Nordic cinema chains in the film’s commercial appeal.
Official data reveals that Ne Zha 2 has earned over 2 billion U.S. dollars globally, including presales and international revenue.
On Thursday, the Chinese embassy in Denmark hosted a special screening of the film at a cinema in Copenhagen.
During the event, Chinese Ambassador to Denmark Wang Xuefeng expressed that the international release of Ne Zha 2 is an important initiative to share traditional Chinese culture with the world.
Over 100 guests attended the screening, with Copenhagen resident Anders Christiansen praising the film’s animation quality, captivating fight scenes, and emotionally impactful narrative.
“It’s a family movie,” said Christiansen, who plans to watch it again with his two children.
