Chinese Assistance Provides Vital Relief Amid Gwadar Flooding Crisis
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The coastal city of Gwadar in Pakistan has been grappling with a severe humanitarian crisis due to large-scale flooding, leaving countless people displaced and in urgent need of assistance. However, amidst this devastation, China Overseas Ports Holding (Pakistan) Co., Ltd, the operator of Gwadar Port, has stepped up its efforts to provide rescue and relief with a sense of urgency.

Responding swiftly to the crisis, the company procured 30,000 bottles of mineral water, 3,000 cans of food, and other essential supplies, which were promptly distributed to the affected victims. Rehan Baloch, speaking to Gwadar Pro, expressed deep appreciation for the support from the Chinese company. He emphasized that during this critical time, when flood victims desperately required immediate relief including shelter, food, and clean water, Chinese companies have been collaborating closely with the Pakistani government to ensure comprehensive aid operations around the clock.

In a remarkable display of solidarity, the China-Pakistan Faqeer Colony Middle School in Gwadar, established and managed with Chinese assistance, opened its doors to provide immediate shelter to hundreds of people affected by the disaster. This gesture underscores the strong bond between the two nations and their shared commitment to supporting communities in times of need.

Recognizing the severity of the situation, the provincial government swiftly declared an emergency in Gwadar and designated it as a disaster zone following heavy rains that triggered devastating flash floods in the region. This declaration has facilitated enhanced coordination and mobilization of resources to address the immediate needs of those affected and to facilitate long-term recovery efforts.

As Gwadar continues to grapple with the aftermath of the flooding, the unwavering support and assistance provided by China and its companies serve as a beacon of hope for the affected communities. The collaborative efforts between Pakistan and China not only demonstrate solidarity in times of crisis but also reinforce the enduring partnership between the two nations in advancing mutual prosperity and well-being.

In the face of adversity, the resilience and unity displayed by the people of Gwadar, alongside the support from international partners like China, will undoubtedly pave the way for the city’s recovery and eventual resurgence.
