Southwest China’s Yunnan province provided emergency aid to Myanmar on Saturday morning, following a powerful earthquake that struck the country on Friday. The relief supplies included tents, blankets, and folding beds.
The initial shipment, consisting of 80 tents and 290 blankets, was airlifted to Myanmar from Kunming, the provincial capital, at approximately 6:30 am. Meanwhile, preparations and transportation for additional relief materials are still in progress, as stated by the Yunnan Food and Strategic Reserves Bureau.
Earlier the same day, a 37-member rescue team from Yunnan reached Myanmar, while another group of 16 Chinese volunteers also set out for the affected regions to support disaster relief and rescue operations.
According to Myanmar’s State Administration Council’s Information Team, the earthquake has so far resulted in 1,002 fatalities, 2,376 injuries, and 30 missing persons.
